Description
Description
At COSHH Store, we understand that managing hazardous materials isn’t just about storage—it’s about safety, compliance, and peace of mind. These British-made Redhill Flammable Liquids Storage Cabinets are engineered to provide a robust solution for your workplace, ensuring your team stays safe and your premises remain fully compliant with UK regulations.
Robust Construction & Security
Built from strong, welded 20swg steel, these cabinets are designed to withstand the rigours of a busy industrial environment. Security is a priority; each unit features lever lock handles with a two-point locking system (top and bottom) and comes supplied with two keys, ensuring that access to restricted substances is strictly controlled. The entire range is finished in a durable powder coating, available in high-visibility Yellow (RAL1003) or a professional Dark Grey (RAL7031) to suit your facility’s aesthetic.
Advanced Spill Management
One of the most critical features for any hazardous storage is containment. These cabinets utilise shelf trays with punched drain holes, which allow any accidental spillages to drain safely into a removable base sump. This design not only prevents cross-contamination between shelves but also makes the removal and disposal of spills convenient and efficient.
Regulatory Compliance
You can rest easy knowing these cabinets meet the stringent requirements of The Highly Flammable and Liquefied Petroleum Gases Regulations 1972 (Section 5 Part D) and The Health and Safety Executive Guide HS(G)51 1990. They also hold the Factory Inspectorate Certificate of Approval No 1 (Parts 3 and 4). Please note that for flammable liquids with a flashpoint below 32°C, the maximum volume stored in a workroom cabinet must not exceed 50 litres.

FAQ's
Question |
Technical Answer |
|---|---|
| What does COSHH stand for and why do I need a cabinet? | COSHH stands for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health. You need a specialised cabinet to safely contain corrosive, toxic, or irritant substances, ensuring compliance with UK health and safety laws. |
| What is a sump and what capacity should it have? | A sump is a leak-proof base designed to catch spills. UK regulations require the sump to hold 110% of the largest container or 10% of the total volume stored, whichever is greater. |
| What do the different cabinet colours mean? | Yellow: Flammables White: Acids and Alkalis Red: Flammables or Chemicals Green: Pesticides & Agrochemicals Grey: General Hazardous |
| Can I store flammables and acids in the same cabinet? | NO. You must segregate incompatible substances. Storing flammables with corrosive acids can lead to dangerous chemical reactions or compromise the cabinet’s integrity. |
| How much flammable liquid can I store? | DSEAR regulations recommend a maximum of 50 litres for highly flammable liquids (flashpoint < 23°C) and up to 250 litres for other flammable liquids within a workroom. |
| Are these COSHH cabinets fire-rated? | Our QMP Steel units are Reaction to Fire EN 13501-1 certified and have a performance of A2, s2, d0. |
| Do pesticide cabinets require ventilation? | Yes. Our pesticide cabinets feature louvred doors to allow for natural ventilation, preventing the dangerous build-up of vapours and fumes. |
| Can COSHH cabinets be used outdoors? | Steel cabinets are for indoor use. For outdoors, we recommend our Hazardous Bins or Chests. We can also provide quotes for galvanised cabinets. |
| Should the cabinet be bolted to the floor? | Highly Recommended. Floor-bolting tall cabinets prevents tipping, especially when heavy liquid containers are stored on upper shelves. |
| Are the shelves adjustable? | Yes. Shelves can be moved in 25mm increments to accommodate various container heights while maintaining structural safety. |
| Manufacturing & Delivery | Nearly all of our COSHH cabinets are British-made and delivered fully assembled to ensure they meet safety integrity standards from day one. |
| Regulations (DSEAR) | Our cabinets help you meet DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) requirements for fire-resistant, secure storage. |
